Make something purely for the pleasure of making it

No meaning required. No message. No one needs to understand it. Let your hand move without asking why. This is what play feels like — you remember.

This prompt has no agenda. Let yourself be surprised by what you make.

Before you begin

Body check-in

01

Use your non-dominant hand for at least one mark.

02

If you catch yourself being serious, add something absurd.

03

The goal is not a good outcome. The goal is to enjoy the process.

These are invitations, not instructions. Take what is useful.

While you work

Sit with these

  1. 01

When did you last feel genuinely, unselfconsciously joyful?

  2. 02

What gets in the way of you playing more?

  3. 03

What would you make if no one would ever see it?

You do not have to answer these. Let them sit beside you while you work.

After you finish

A moment of closing

01Look at what you made

Not to judge it. Just to see it. What is there that you did not expect?

02Notice how you feel

Different from when you started? The same? Neither is wrong. Just notice.

03Acknowledge yourself

You showed up. You made something. That is the whole practice. That is enough.
